On March 11, Hawaii State Senator Mike Gabbard introduced a resolution (SR93) encouraging the Governor to optimize the use of federal funds for climate resilience and equity. The resolution also supports the creation of a task force to coordinate the use of federal funds.

SR93 recognizes that legislatures need adequate guidance and support. Therefore, the resolution requests that the Governor and infrastructure task force encourage any eligible recipients to apply for federal funding and provide timely information and technical assistance throughout the application process.

Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Briefing Book

In November 2021, President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law marking one of the largest investments in American infrastructure to date. The bill includes various funding mechanisms to help states finance projects that will increase the wellbeing and resilience of local environments and communities.

To help states make the most of the funding the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has to offer, NCEL has developed a comprehensive briefing book on the subject. The book highlights funding opportunities for energy and transportation, coastal resilience, water infrastructure, and habitat connectivity and natural resource restoration.
