Beatrice O’Connor
Sustainable Agriculture and Water Specialist
Beatrice is NCEL’s Sustainable Agriculture and Water Specialist, leading NCEL’s state policy work on topics relating to agriculture and food systems, water quality, and soil health. She brings experience in environmental policy research and engaging state, Tribal, and federal governments in complex environmental cleanup discussions.
Prior to joining NCEL, Beatrice worked at the National Conference of State Legislatures, where she staffed a working group of state agencies and Native American Tribes concerned with addressing the cleanup of the nuclear weapons complex, and provided policy resources to state legislators on water, environmental cleanup, PFAS, and forests. Before that, she worked as a legislative aide and a litigation legal assistant.
Beatrice holds a Master’s in Environmental, Natural Resources, and Energy Law from Lewis and Clark Law School, and a Bachelor’s in Government and Politics with a Minor in Sustainability Studies from the University of Maryland.
Outside of work, Beatrice enjoys spending time with her family and pets, hiking, and attending concerts.
