Legislators From Nine States Formalize Coalition to Push Carbon Pricing Legislation

Washington, D.C. – State legislators from nine states are announcing the formation of the Carbon Costs Coalition. This multi-state coalition is focused on reducing carbon emissions, ensuring equity in policy proposals, developing market-based solutions, creating a resilient local economy and improving public health. By coming together, these legislators are leading a state-based movement to take action on climate by targeting emissions harmful to human health, local economies, and the environment.

What: State legislators from nine states are announcing the formation of the Carbon Costs Coalition, building upon the introduction of carbon pricing bills in their respective legislatures.

When: January 31, 2018 at 1:00 PM EST

Who: Hosted by The National Caucus of Environmental Legislators (NCEL) and Meridian Institute with speakers including the American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) and state legislators from each state.

Why: There is nationwide support for pricing carbon emissions. These legislators are building momentum by advancing carbon pricing bills in their states. By joining together, they are sharing best practices and creating a national state-based movement. Legislators will be available to discuss why the group was formed as well as the current carbon pricing bills in each state.
