Hawaii’s 100% Renewables Legislation Added to Envirolaws.org

In 2015, Hawaii Representative Chris Lee’s House Bill 623 broke new ground as the first piece of legislation to successfully implement a 100% Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) by 2045. The bill is the most recent addition to the Digital Environmental Legislative Handbook, a partnership between NCEL and the USC Schwarzenegger Institute. The Handbook is a curated list of landmark state environmental legislation where you can now access detailed bill information such as statute, letters of support, and vote counts.

Hawaii’s bill is already proving to be a useful model for other states to follow, with states like Washington and Massachusetts introducing legislation this season to set a 100% renewable target.
